Sorry sorry sorry. I had very good intentions. Internet has been tricky - I had composed a big one the other night at Dave's Mom's but it wouldn't publish.

I'm sure you're all surviving without my blog. ;)

I sure am. I LOVE being away from the computer.

Anyhow, we're in St. John's Newfoundland right now. Had a great show with Chris Picco last night. I've pretty much stolen the David Picco band as my band. It's nice to play with people.

Had a show in Halifax on Saturday and a show in Sydney on Sunday. Slept in the van Sunday night as we had an early ferry Monday morning and there was no point wasting money on a hotel. Yar.

The ferry ride to Newfoundland was really beautiful. I love the water. St. John's is a fun and crazy town. Holy shit. It's neat to meet people and see places that I've heard about from various people over the last few years.

Jimmy Rose and me went for a walk along the battery and up to Signal Hill today and saw the place where the first radio signal was sent from. That's why it's called Signal Hill. It was a great walk and I'm a gonna be sore as hell tomorrow, I'll tell you that.

Okay, I should probably go. We've been taking good pictures. Tonight's show will be fun - our friend Tom Artis(s?) will be playing, too, so lots of music and lots of cajoling. :)

Halifax is so lovely

We drove until 1am NB time on Thursday. Stayed in the Ritz motel - saw my breath in the air for the first time this year. (Fucking east coast is fucking cold.) Had a good sleep. Saw more of David's chest hair. Drove the next day straight to Dartmouth (pronounced "dart-mouth" from Cam, true pronounciation is dartmuth - which I already knew. Just sayin'.)

Let's see... David's mother gave us all hugs, and Don, too. Had a beautiful dinner of cod tongues, lovely bread, beautiful seafood, salad and (something) berry tart. I am going to get such shit for not remembering the name of the damn berry. Apparently they have this berry in (hmmm Denmark?) but it's called something else. Seriously. You east coasters don't realize that we're actually trying, but there's so much to remember.

Woke up quite late. Went around Halifax - got some records in Sam's on Barrington. Had fish cakes for dinner. Played our first show with the magnificent Jenn Grant (buy her record). Ginger's is a nice old place.

Our friend CB from home came out and so did an old friend of mine that I hadn't seen in ages. Funny. Toronto represented.

JR played a couple of tunes. DP band were GREAT. I'm not kiddin' when I say I'm glad as hell to see them every night. Bought a little pirate today.

Yar.

I'll tell you what...

...I shouldn't be doing is writing in my stupid blog. With less than 24 hours to hit the road, I should be doing laundry, and last-minute emails, and organizing all my gear and making a list of what to bring and going to the bank and practising and finding a store that still has the last few bottles of my discontinued conditioner (son.of.a.bitch) ... and...

Instead I'm sitting here at 11:11 am eating my apple and thinking about the ocean.

We get the tour bus today. (hahaha)
Last night JR learned a few of my songs, so that makes me feel better so I don't always have to be solo.
The DP Band had a really good rehearsal on Monday and they're excited. I'm excited. I feel pretty lucky that I get to see them play so much.
We're eating cod tongues pretty soon. Mmm hmm. And I have to because Dave's Mom is making them.
Mostly I'm just sitting around thinking about how it's all going to be and what are the things I'll be telling Shelby when I come home.
So just now I've decided not to think that far ahead, and from this point forward, I'm just going to hang out in the moment. yar.

2 Days

We leave in two days. Lots to do.
