how we think about light - release parties

Top four pictures by Mike Mills, bottom picture by Amanda Ellison.

Well what a time we've had. The release party at the El Mocambo on July 26th was wonderful. We introduced the world to our two new bandmates; the lions, we were joined by the Seed Choir - Lynne Dubuc, Stephanie Conn, Craig Browne and Megan Marshall; and generally had an amazing time.

This weekend we travelled Hamilton (July 26), London (July 27) and Windsor (July 28) - seven of us on the road (Neil Klassen, Shelby Lamb, Jesse Laine, Jimmy Rose, Steve Puchalski, myself and Ryan Gassi, who played drums for Shelby and generally was lovely to be around - Mark even joined us on stage in London with some shakers and tambourine - not a small feat for the Alex P. Keaton) as well as the lions. We played a quiet set in Hamilton to an attentive room and rocked our way from London to Windsor picking up new friends and having an awesome time.

And now we're all home, most of the fellows are probably sneaking in a nap, and I'm gearing up to write some FACTOR grants because, I'll be honest, it was hard to come home after this weekend, and I need to make sure we can do this as much as possible.

What a life - I get to do a lot of cool things.

CD Release party in Toronto tonight

I guess I don't really have to write promotional things here because you can find them anywhere you might encounter me on the internet. ;)

Needless to say, it's been a real busy time, and I am looking forward to tonight's show. It feels like a long time since we've played (I guess the last time was over a month ago?). So that will be just awesome. :)

Jittery

I love the people who are nice enough to play in my band. I'm a lucky sonuvabitch. Rehearsing always gets straight to the core of: Why am I doing this? Oh right. This is why.

6 days to street date, 15 days to the CD release party, 22 days to the next mini tour.

I doubt that money worry will ever change. It seems to me that in order to pay everybody properly (ie at all), we're going to have to pull in 5 or 6 times more dough than we normally do. How do we do this? I don't fucking know. In the meantime, I will shower these people with love and gratitude for being part of something that I guess they like doing, otherwise there's really no reason why they'd be here.

Like I said, lucky as hell.
